Laboratory for Marine Living Resources
The Laboratory for Marine Living Resources of the Institute of Fish Resources – Varna operates in the following main subjects:
– Research on industrial fish species – turbot, sprat, horse mackerel and anchovies in the Bulgarian Black Sea aquatory, analysis of the main fishing activities and bycatch in fishing activities, determination of species diversity, biological parameters, determination of the stocks by the area method, analyzes with FISAT II, recommendations for sustainable use of stocks, etc.
– Surveys on shellfish – rapana, black clams, white mussels – analysis of species composition, quantities per unit area, determination of field inventories, recommendations for sustainable use of stocks, etc.
– Subsidiary research into the main components of the marine food chain.
