For the fifth consecutive year on 17 and 18 May 2019 at the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov “- Varna was held a festival “Sea and Health”. Acknowledgment by the European Commission is its coverage as one of the international events dedicated to the European Maritime Day. The festival kicked off with a scientific conference devoted to the health aspects of human-marine relationships. The plenary session was chaired by MD Assoc. Prof. Dimitar Stavrev, PhD. – coordinator for the Medical University of the MASRI Road map project. It started with reports from Prof. Dr. Atanas Palazov – coordinator of the MASRI Road map project and Prof. Dr. Lubomir Alexiev, MD and Chairman of the Aviation, Marine and Space Medicine Association. Prof. Palazov presented the project from the National Road Map of the Scientific Infrastructure: Infrastructure for sustainable development of marine research including the participation of Bulgaria in the European infrastructure EURO-ARGO, underlining the participation of the Medical University – Varna in it; in particular the forthcoming establishment of a Marine Medicine Laboratory. More than 110 participants from Varna, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Sliven and Shumen took part in the sessions of the scientific program.
